Develop goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies and procedures in order to provide specified nursing services to all areas of KMH in accordance with state and federal guidelines. To organize the nursing department to provide excellent clinical care to KMH residents. To organize, direct, plan, assess, implement and lead the nursing services of KMH.
Is knowledgeable regarding State and Federal regulations for SNU/LTC and AL and develops policies, procedures, and protocols accordingly. Participates in all facility surveys including plans of correction. Participates in planning, decision making, policy formulation, and strategic planning as a member of the administrative team. Organize, direct, and coordinate medical and health services in compliance with the state and federal regulations and policies set by KMH. Plans and coordinates with the CEO, for planning the budgeting requirements for personnel, supplies, and equipment. Responsible for cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved departmental budgets.
Maintains high standards other staff members can follow. Inspire and encourages KMH staff members to uphold clinical best practices. Positive working relationship with residents, families, and vendors. Plans, organizes, directs, and leads KMH clinical services including but not limited to SNU/LTC and Assisted Living. Manages and supports Director of Nursing in SNU/LTC and Clinical Coordinator in AL. Provides guidance and counsel to supervisory staff as well as other clinical staff. Primary liaison for all non-KMH clinical services including but not limited to medical director, pharmacy, hospice, home health, and rehabilitation services.
Maintain clinical and resident-care standards. This includes ensuring that the residents are safe in the facility and have access to the right medical care. Works closely with the CEO and CFO to acquire the right infrastructure and resources. Responsible for evaluating, formulating, and implementing new clinical strategies to better meet resident needs. Evaluates the QAPI process and assures it is accomplished on an ongoing basis. Reviews incident reports, concerns, and complaints.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current Kansas Licensure. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Master’s Degree preferred. Previous SNU/LTC and AL experience preferred. Three years of experience as Director of Nursing of SNU/LTC preferred.
Must be able to communicate adequately in order to understand and address the needs of all residents. Ability to read and understand written instructions regarding the care of residents and be able to document in writing the residents’ response to treatment.
Ability to relate well with residents, family members and team members and exhibit an attitude of kindness and understanding in challenging situations. CNO will work closely with all KMH staff members to ensure resident and family preferences are supported.
Must exhibit the ability to perform various physically demanding and repetitive movements including lifting of heavy objects, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. The position also involves standing, walking, and other activities that require the employee to be on their feet.
